Upgrades From Makita Now at Ace Tool!

Makita Upgrades LXDT04 Impact Driver and LXPH01 Hammer Driver-Drill

Makita has added to its groundbreaking line-up of 18V Lithium-Ion tools which now includes over 50 cordless solutions. The new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver (LXDT04) and 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless ½” Hammer Driver-Drill (model LXPH01) are upgrades to market-leading models already at work on job sites across the U.S. These new tools have been engineered with two key upgrades and distinguished by an updated teal trade dress.

“Makita continues to be the undisputed market leader in 18 volt Lithium-Ion,” said Ethan Haughawout, Makita Product Manger, Cordless Tools. “We started the 18 volt Lithium-Ion revolution in 2005 and other power tool companies have been playing catch-up ever since. The upgrades to these two jobsite staples include more power and less weight than the previous models, and it’s another example of our ongoing dedication to deliver best-in-class trade solutions for the pro user.”

New 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver (LXDT04)

The new LXDT04 is engineered with a Makita-built, 4-pole motor with variable speed that delivers 1,420 in.lbs. of Max Torque, 0-3,200 impacts per minute, and 0-2,300 RPM for a wide range of fastening tasks. The LXDT04 also has an excellent power-to-weight ratio, with a more compact design (5-7/16″ long) and less weight (only 3.3 lbs., with battery) than the previous model.

Consistent with all Makita impact tools, the proprietary hammer and anvil impact mechanism in the LXDT04 is manufactured using the best raw materials with the highest quality steel and unique heat hardening process for maximum fastening and driving power.

Comfort and ease-of-use features include a ¼” hex “one-touch” chuck for quick bit changes, with no need to pull the sleeve for bit installation. It also has a built-in L.E.D. light with afterglow function that helps illuminate the work surface, and a tool belt clip that can attach to either side of the tool. The LXDT04 features a new rubberized grip, redesigned for improved comfort and ideal for anyone working a full day on the job site.

With its variable speed motor and 1,420 in. lbs. of Max Torque, the LXDT04 is engineered for a wide range of fastening applications and is ideal for HVAC, mechanical, electrical, fencing/decking pro contractors, steel stud framers, woodworkers, finish carpenters, and general contractors seeking a best-in-class industrial quality 18V Lithium-Ion cordless impact driver.

Model LXDT04 is a kit and includes two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries, a 30-minute Rapid Optimum Charger, tool belt clip, and a tool case. The LXDT04Z includes the tool only.

New 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Hammer Driver-Drill (LXPH01)

The new LXPH01 is powered by a Makita-built 4-pole motor and delivers 480 in.lbs. of Max Torque, an increase over the previous model. The LXPH01 Hammer Driver-Drill has 16 clutch settings and a variable 2-speed all-metal transmission (0-400/0-1,500 RPM) to cover a wide range of applications, plus hammer and drill modes. The LXPH01 also has an excellent power-to-weight ratio, with a more compact design (8-1/8″ long) and less weight (only 4.0 lbs., with battery) than the previous model.

Comfort and ease-of-use features include a ½” keyless chuck for quick and easy bit changes. It also has a built-in L.E.D. light with afterglow function that helps illuminate the work surface, and a tool belt clip that can attach to either side of the tool. Meet An Ace Tool Star: CLC 1132

If you aren’t familiar with the Custom Leather Craft CLC 1132, you should be!

This is a Tool Backpack Bag with 75 pockets and one of our top selling items. It’s lightweight and flexible (a soft pack) but incredibly tough. DuPont Cordura Plus fabric ensures durability and adjustable padded shoulder straps or handles make comfort standard. A multi-compartment plastic tray (7″ x 5″) and enough interior panels to hold a multitude of tools (14 pc wrench sets, electric drills, extension cords, pliers, screwdrivers, etc) make this the perfect go-to bag for any project. If you’re keeping track at home, the specific dimensions are 13″W x 17 1/2″H x 9″H.

Best of all, we’ve got the lowest price on this one. Seen elsewhere for $70.49 up to $129.10, ours is nicely priced at $69.99 and can be shipped anywhere! We’ve heard of people using this for tools, art supplies, even stowing laptops and gadgets for higher-tech projects. Keep it in mind if you’re looking for a good gift this holiday season.

Have you tried this bag already? Care to write a review? We think it’s great, but we would love to hear your opinion.

The Anarchist’s Tool Chest

Have you read The Anarchist’s Tool Chest by Chris Schwarz? So many reviews have been written already, we won’t try to recreate the wheel. Here are some good reviews (and you just might discover a new website or blog you like) if you’re interested in crafting with hand tools.

This review from Ben at www.blowery.org includes a good discussion in the comments about how minimalism is not necessarily cheaper.

Kari at The Village Carpenter talks about how she thoroughly got something out of every single page, a rarity in book reviews!

If you frequently look for book reviews, consider Good Reads, where this particular item has quite high reviews!

Tools for Working Wood provides a short review/description and an actual opportunity to buy the book!

If this book leaves you realizing your hand tool collection is lacking, click here to stock up.
